Step 1: Remove front grille #
Step 2: Remove bonnet struts #
Open the bonnet and remove bonnet struts from the hood. Prop the bonnet open with a prop rod, broom handle or a friend.
Step 3: Remove the bonnet badge #
Step 4: Drill 1.5″ hole #
Locate where the original badge was mounted and drill a 1.5” hole on the bottom of the bonnet to remove the inner structure only. This is necessary to make room for the new large nylon nut that will keep the leaper in place.
Step 5: Drill 11/16″ hole #
Drill a 11/16” hole through the top of the bonnet to make room for the break away spring on the spring loaded leaper. The nylon nut will attach to this spring.
Step 6: Buff area #
If necessary, buff out the area where the bonnet badge was.
Step 7: Mount leaper #
Mount the new leaper. Be sure not to over tighten the nylon nut.
